Long regarded as a Queens gem, Kaufman Astoria Studios is one of the largest production centers on the East Coast, which includes shows like Orange is the New Black, Nurse Jackie and Sesame Street to name a few. With over 500,000 square feet of sound stages, it plans to expand by adding two more, not to mention the backlot space that currently exists as the only outdoor facility in New York that has also been used recently as the location of a Night Market. Vice President of CCNY's Architecture Alumni for its first 5 years from 1984 – 1989.
Served on the Founding Board and helped create the foundation of what it is today.
Served as Vice President and then President of AIA's Queens Chapter between 2005 and
2009. Played a major role in advocating for Queens architects and giving them a louder
voice in the community.
Member of the Convention committee of the American Institute of Architects of New York
State (AIANYS). Led the organizing of two successful state conventions; one of them, the
Solar Design Convention, won an AIA National Award for Excellence. This Convention was very well organized and advocated for architects taking responsibility for solar design. It hadBill Bobenhausen as its keynote speaker and Peter Gisolfi was among the attendees. Bill Gatiaddressed the closing remarks to all the members. This Convention was a prelude to LEEDS, which standardized energy conservation in buildings.
Served on the AIANYS Board for four years organizing events and lobbying for architects in Albany and Washington, D.C.
