The AIA Queens currently has three committees:
The Preservation Committee monitors the Landmark Preservation Commission’s hearings for issues involving work in Queens which may require our input and position, proactively recommends neighborhoods and landmarks for designation and collaborates with other historical and professional organizations to contribute our knowledge and expertise to preserve the history of Queens through its built form.
Code and Zoning
Chair Gino Longo AIA
The Code and Zoning Committee typically meets after the monthly Queens Industry Meeting which is held by the Department of Buildings Queens to inform professionals about issues in the department and to discuss and answer questions about procedures and policies. The Code and Zoning Committee recommends issues which should be addressed at the city wide level as well.

The Housing Committee is charged with raising awareness of the incredible stock of housing existing in Queens as well as to promote the future positive development of housing in the borough. Events have included presentations by the Mayor’s office on the new Hunter’s Point South Development as well as sponsoring the Student Awards Program which is annually themed around housing.
